eur(h)ope project

Policy Labs

Drawing on the outputs and experiences of the first 21 months of the project, the 4 partners of the EUR(H)OPE project each carried out 2 local Policy Labs with varied public authorities and stakeholders in their cities in January 2026. The 62 total participants included policymakers from all levels of government, as well as NGOs and human rights organizations, academics and postgraduate students, cultural and artistic agents, journalists, community and youth workers, activists, economists, young people, and the project managers of the partner organizations.

These Policy Labs treated the main issues related to migration and European identity in each local context, with significant variation between countries due to the spheres of influence and likelihood of affecting public policy in different areas in each participating country:

  • Spain: From Coexistence to Belonging: Reimagining the Future of Cultural Diversity in Catalonia
  • Morocco: Youth Perspectives on Migration and Policy
  • Albania: Migration and Workers’ Rights in Albania
  • Italy: Migration and Identity in Cross-Border Communities and the European Union

In addition to identifying the current state of play regarding migration and its associated issues in each local or national context, these Policy Labs also allowed us to workshop solutions or recommendations for new policies aimed at improving the issues identified. They led to the creation of spaces for exchange and collaboration between differing actors and sectors in each country, thereby increasing the advocacy and impact of the EUR(H)OPE project and future possibilities for intersectoral and interdisciplinary cooperation at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
